Decorating for Christmas does not have to be overwhelming. It should not steal joy from the festivities. My friend and blog partner, Stella, shows you how to decorate the easy way.
Christmas is a special time; a time for family to bond. Christians use this time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. For the Kenyan school curriculum students, it is a time for the long 6-8 weeks holiday break. Generally, it is a time when extended family members who haven’t seen each other for months get together.
Decorations add warmth to this already wonderful season and helps to make memorable pictures. It leaves an indelible impression on children who grow up remembering Christmas as a fun time. This season can be used to create a family tradition, which tightly knits family members and strengthens relationships. Is it not special down the years to look back at a picture and say, for instance, “This picture is from the Christmas of 1999?”
When to decorate
Generally speaking, you should start decorating approximately a month to the festivities. Decoration time could be from 5th December to 5th January each year. The first weeks of December are a warm up to the event and the season ends a few days after New Year. Alternatively, some decorations could be put on the house earlier and more specific ones be left for the dinner on Christmas Eve.
How to decorate
There are several areas of the home to be decorated. The theme of the decoration is Santa Claus, Jesus’ birth and lights. The colours are dark green, bright red and white.
Indoor or outdoor, a Christmas tree builds on the ambiance Christmas. Setting up the tree is a fun activity which should be done by the whole family with the kids helping to put on the accessories.
Stickers, lights and other decorations are hanged on the windows. These look especially glamorous at night.
These are ideal for stuffing gifts when kids are asleep on Christmas Eve to be received in the morning as special gifts from Santa Claus. It is also a wonderful accessory to the Christmas tree. See more here.
Feasting is at the heart of this season. Why not add a typical table cover, table runner and dining chair covers. Your family will feel special, the warm Christmas colours will spice up the mood and great pictures taken at the dinner table will hold dear memories of special family times for a long time.
- Several of the decorations should be used and re-used yearly. Buy durable decoration to save on money.
- If you want to buy any of the fabric decorations in the pictures (dining chair covers, table runner, table cloth and Santa stockings) at a favourable cost, whatsapp on 0795502103.
